Sarah (Rita) M. Jackson, 103, died peacefully on August 4 at the Weymouth Health Care Center. She was born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada on June 12, 1909. Sarah spent her early years in Cambridge, MA before taking up residence in New York. She was the wife of the late George Jackson where the resided in New York for many years. Rita was the sister of the late Eunice Brown, Hilda Sport, Jeannette Turner and Pauline Haynes. She is survived by her nephew, Lawrence A. Turner and his wife Juanita of Weymouth and several great nieces and nephews, Paul Turner, Eric Turner, Pamela Turner and Patricia Hawkins. As a very successful business woman, she owned her own catering business in the 40’s and 50’s and was a woman of many talents. A private funeral service will be held on August 25 at the C. C. Neil M. Duncan, 84 of Weymouth passed away peacefully on Friday August 17th after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Lorraine F. (Thayer) Duncan.

Born and brought up in Weymouth, he was the son of the late Thomas and Isabella (McPherson) Duncan.

Neil was a lifelong resident of Weymouth, a graduate of Weymouth High School and a lifetime member of the Old South Union Church.

He served his county from 1945-1952 in the United States Marine Corps during two wars, WWII and the Korean War.

He was a carpenter for the Union Carpenter’s.

In his younger years, Neil enjoyed playing tennis and square dancing. He also drove stock cars at the Norwood Arena and watched stock car racing on TV.

He is survived by his sons, Jeffrey Duncan and his wife Jody of Weymouth, Dean Duncan and his wife Diane of Rockland, his brother Ross Duncan and his wife Shirley of Ohio; also his grandchildren Courtney Bellows and her husband Steve, and Whitney, Nicholas, Corey and Rusty and his great grandchild Duncan Bellows.

His services will be held on Tuesday August 28th at 11:00AM in the Old South Union Church, 25 Columbian Road, South Weymouth, MA. Burial will take place in the MA National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:30PM. Visitation will be on Monday August 27th from 4:00-8:00PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman, MA.

Weymouth – Stephen W. Joyce, age 46, residing in Whitman, passed away on Wednesday August 22, 2012. He is survived by his parents, William J. and Carol J. Joyce of Middleboro, his sister, Christine Joyce of Gloucester, MA and his aunt, Marylou Joyce of Plymouth.
Steve was born in Lawrence and lived in Weymouth for 38 years before moving to Whitman a year ago. He was an Iron Worker for Boston Tram Rail Corporation in Avon before starting his own company, Minor Marine on Cape Cod.

Holmes, Walter “Larry” of Weymouth, passed away August 26, 2012. surrounded by his loving family of Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Beloved son of Walter J. and June E. (Westhaver) Holmes.

Loving brother of Joyce L. Doucette of North Quincy, Brian S. Holmes of Quincy, Ronald B. Holmes of South Boston, Patricia A. Castaneda of Quincy and Scott B. Holmes of Quincy. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in South Boston, he enjoyed working several years at L and 4th Street garage in South Boston as well as Cassidy Funeral Home in South Boston. Larry lived for many years with his devoted parents before moving to Weymouth. Larry loved life but the love of his life was Tuesday Weld. His dream vacation was traveling to Arizona and he just loved everything about being out west.

Larry loved western movies, horses, cadillacs, sundaes, going out for dinner and also Clint Eastwood, John Wayne and Elvis Presley.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 10-11 AM in the United Methodist Church, 40 Beale Street Quincy followed by his Funeral Service at 11 AM.

Burial will be private.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Francis & Ruth (Murray) Masuret. He was a Massachusetts State Police Trooper/Detective for almost four decades and was an avid pilot and golfer.

John is survived by the mother of their children, Alice Dzierzeski of East Bridgewater, His children, Michael Dzierzeski of Naples Fl, Michelle Abbott of Hanover, Richard Dzierzeski of Conway NH. and Marie Minihan of Hanover, His brothers Stanley Dzierzeski Belmont, Bernard Dzierzeski of Rockland, and 11 grandchildren. He is predeceased by his brother Edward Dzierzeski. Born in Boston grew up in Dorchester and lived in South Weymouth for 45 years. John as a young man started his own accounting company with his father, Damazy, as his first client, along with working for several companies on the South Shore. He was a lieutenant in the 26th Yankee division of the National Guard. He was a graduate of Boston English High School in the year 1957 and Graduated from Bentley College. He was a member of the Polish America Veterans.

Dorothy Ann (Hunter) Bain, of Hanson formerly of Hull, died suddenly on September 8th at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth at the age of 77. The beloved wife of the late Robert Bain Sr, she is survived by her children and their spouses, Robert and Angela Bain Jr. of GA; Jacqueline and Richard Robash of N. Weymouth, Scott and Dianne Bain of Holbrook, Michael and Tina Bain of Hanson and George and Leigh Bain of Hull. She also leaves 20 cherished grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Dorothy graduated from Dorchester High School for Girls in 1953 and has lived in Hanson for 7 years. She enjoyed reading, the beach, and especially spending time with her family. Dorothy’s warm smile and sincere hugs were traits treasured by all who knew her. Eugene W. Tippett ‘Bill’, of Weymouth, formerly of Randolph, passed away peacefully on December 30th, 2011. Bill was the beloved husband of the late Maureen (Kirby) Tippett. He was the son of the late Mary and Eugene Tippett of Randolph and the brother of the late Mary Jubett of Pembroke. Bill is survived by his daughter and her husband Susan & Richard Martin, a son Robert Hennelly and his wife Regina, all from Weymouth. He was blessed with 6 grandchildren. Bill is also is survived by his sister Ruthie MacPhee of Avon. He had many nephews and nieces who were dear to him.
Bill grew up in Randolph and was very active in sports all through his youth. He played baseball and football and eventually fell in love with golf. As a 19 year old man, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army in which he served his country for 3 years during World War II. Bill took an early retirement from Thompson Steel Company. He was a member of the Marshfield Country Club for many years and enjoyed traveling and participating in tournaments. Bill often mentored young new golfers and he enjoyed playing until the age of 80. Bill and his wife Maureen lived on a golf course in Arizona for many years before moving back home.

Bregoli, Dorothy of Weymouth, passed away February 4, 2012.

Beloved mother of Jane Bregoli of Dartmouth, June Bregoli of Weymouth, Mark Bregoli of Hull, and the late Barry Bregoli. Loving sister of Henry Jellows, Jr. of NY, Mark Jellows of Martha’s Vineyard, and Tracey Jellows of Brockton. Also survived by 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Dorothy was interested in photography, traveling, and her favorite pastimes were going to art museums and beaches. She also loved animals, especially cats. Dorothy exhibited her artwork in numerous art exhibitions on the South Shore, where her landscape and seascape paintings won many awards. She was a long time member of The Braintree Art Association and the Quincy Art Association, and member of Autism Speaks, an association that advocates for people with autism. Mrs. Bregoli was a graduate of Hingham High School, class of 1948. She worked part time as a receptionist for many years.

Cecil E. Simpkins, age 90, passed away February 18, 2012 at South Shore Hospital. Husband of the late Helen (Evans) loving Father of Ronald W. Simpkins of Plymouth, Richard D. Simpkins of Braintree, Sandra C. Simpkins of Brockton, and Scott Simpkins of Cincinnati, Ohio. Brother of Bob Simpkins of IN. and Lois Justice of Ok. Also survived by 6 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. He worked for many years as Chief Court officer in the Quincy Court System retiring in 1981, Cecil was also a Weymouth Police Officer for 7 years, and had lived in Weymouth for over 70 years. He was a member of The American Legion Post #79 in Weymouth, and the American Experimental Aircraft Assn. Cecil was an honorary member of the Ojibwe Indian Tribe; and his Indian name was “Red Cloud”. He was a member of the Preservation of Indian Culture Assn. Cecil served his country proudly in the U.S. Marines and was very active in many Masonic lodges including Chaplain for Delta Lodge Braintree, a member of Pheonix Lodge in Hanover, and the Kilwinning Club. He was Chaplain for the Lodge of Instruction for the 8th Masonic District and a member of several other Lodges. And also a member of Old South Union Congregational Church. Funeral Service will be held at the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) South Weymouth, on Wednesday, February 22, at 11 A.M. Visiting Hours on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Bruno Salvucci, age 94, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, February 23, 2012. Bruno was the loving husband for 69 years of the late Harriette Cleopatra (Avgerinos) Salvucci. He is survived by three children, Jane Anastasi and her husband Peter of Reading, Robert Salvucci and his wife Barbara of Bethesda, MD and Elizabeth Bailey of Weymouth, as well as three grandchildren, Anthony Anastasi, Nicholas Anastasi and Dana Salvucci.
Bruno was born in Quincy and lived in Weymouth for 61 years. He worked at Grossman’s in Braintree for 50 years.

Malvena Elizabeth (MacDonnell) Cangiano, 92, of Medford, formerly of Weymouth, died on March 01, 2012 in the home she shared for 60 years with her beloved husband, the late Dr. Albert E. Cangiano. Devoted mother of Dr. Malvena Baxter and friend Paul Blake of Andover; Pamela Johnson and husband Thomas of Hanover; Linda Cangiano of Medford; Barbara Voss and husband Frank of Andover; Dr. Albert E. Cangiano Jr and wife, Maryjane of Medford; Wil Baxter of Andover; and the late Maryjane Cangiano. She is beloved grandmother of Joanna Baxter & friend Jeremy Lerner; the late Stephen Baxter; Bethany Self & husband Steve; Theresa Fritz & husband Matt; Leah Thomas & husband the Rev. Adam Thomas; Katie McGonagle & husband Barry; Patrick Garvey; Eric Voss; and Julia, Laura, Mark, Daniel, and Albert Cangiano. She is also survived by 3 great grandchildren: James, Chloe, and Adam McGonagle. She leaves loving friend Angela Cangiano and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was the dear daughter of the late Angus D. and Malvena E. MacDonnell of Weymouth; loving sister of Mary Guglielmo of West Hartford, CT; and Barbara McLeod of Akron, PA; the late Jane Stewart, Margaret Burns, Leonard MacDonnell, Dr. John MacDonnell, & Cecelia Hynes.
Malvena was a 1941 graduate of Bridgewater State College and a teacher at the Nevin School in South Weymouth. She was a devoted wife and mother; a talented seamstress and baker; a lover of literature, writing, and sweets. She was a devoted Catholic and faithful communicant at St. Joseph’s Parish in Medford.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2012, from 3-7 pm, in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford. Spink Jr., loving mother of Bonnie and her husband Jim Pearsons of Hingham, Don Spink and his wife Barbara of South Weymouth, the late Harold S. Spink III, and the late Gerald P. Spink. “Gigi” will be greatly missed by her 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Sister of the late Anna Meeler, Teresa Barrett, Julia Leombruno and Margaret Downs. Daughter of the late Patrick and Julia (Keville) McGowan.
Mili decided many years ago, to donate her remains to Harvard Medical School, therefore there will be no visiting hours or burial. A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 10:00 AM, St. Francis Xavier Church, 234 Pleasant St., South Weymouth. Relatives and friends are invited. Scott E. Chapman, age 61, passed away at his cottage in Marion. He is survived by his wife for 32 years, Gail (Barnard) Chapman, his 2 daughters, Elizabeth A. Channell of Plympton and Sarah-May D. Chapman of Lake Tahoe, CA and his sister, Kathy Siclesteel of Sebring, FL. Scott also leaves his 4 grandchildren; Christopher, Alfred, E. Michelle and William Channell all of Plympton and 1 niece and 1 nephew.
He was born and grew up in Norwood and lived the last 32 years in Weymouth. Scott was a Sheet Metal Worker for Westinghouse for many years and became a Shipper and Receiver for Banner Systems for 10 years before owning Scott’s Handyman Service for the last 3 years.
Scott was Past Master of the Wessagusset Masonic Lodge and the first Past Master of the Weymouth United Lodge of Masons, the Past Patron of both the Wessagusset and Pilgrim and the Past Grand Representative to the Québec and Massachusetts Past Grand Chaplain of Grand Chapter of MA O.E.S. as well as a member of the Old South Union Church of Weymouth.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Old South Union Church, 25 Columbian St. S. Weymouth on Saturday, March 10 at 11 A.M. Visiting hours at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Friday from 3 to 8 P.M. A Masonic Service will be held by the Weymouth United Lodge at 7:15 P.M. followed by an Eastern Star Service by the Grand Stars of Hope Grand Family of O.E.S.

Silvia (Marini) Tanner, age 67, passed away at the South Shore Hospital on Tuesday March 6, 2012. She is survived by her loving husband for 47 years, Joseph Tanner, her 2 daughters, Keri Russo and her husband Michael of Tucson, AZ and Julie Tanner of Weymouth. Silvia also leaves her grandchildren, Jared and Ashley Russo both of Tucson, AZ and her cousin, Elaine Soulia of Oak Point, Middleboro. She was very devoted to her dog, Maxie
Silvia was born and grew up in Quincy and lived in Braintree for 35 years before moving to Weymouth 7 years ago. She was an Administrative Assistant for Eddie and Mike’s Gas Station in Braintree for 13 years and became a Unit Coordinator in the South Shore Hospital Cardiac Care Unit for 12 years before retiring in 2010. She was a member of the Old South Union Congregational Church Joy Club.
