Judith Shirley (Johnston) Bennett October 27, 2012 age 79 beloved wife of Charles Bennett, Mother of the late Ross A. Bennett, Sister of the late Eileen Conn, also survived by many nieces and nephews. Daughter of the late Melbert and Katherine (MacPhail) Johnston. Judith and Charles were married for 58 years. And Judith worked at Weymouth North High School cafeteria for over 28 years retiring in 2000. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday October 31, 2012 at 11 A.M. at the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq) S. Weymouth. Visiting Hours will be on Tuesday from 5-7 P.M. relatives and friends invited. Burial will be at Mass National Cemetery. LINDA L. HERSEY-WALLACE, of Weymouth, formerly of Hingham, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 12th, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family at the age of 60. Linda was raised and educated in Hingham and was associated with the Food Drive of the American Red Cross for over 10 years.

She leaves her loving husband, Ralph R. Wallace of Weymouth and was the mother of the late Shawn Michael Hersey. Also survived by her brother, 2 sisters and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham on Saturday from 3-5 PM. The funeral services and interment are to be private.

Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of her family and friends and they are grateful for all the blessings she brought into their lives. Her legacy of love and caring spirit will live on in their hearts forever.

Albert “Buddy” Collins passed away on Thursday November 1, 2012 at his home. Buddy is survived by his wife of 31 years, Grace (Dearden) Collins, his 3 sons, Ryan Collins of Rockland and Scott and Matthew Collins both of Weymouth and his grandson, Shane Collins of Rockland. He is also the brother of Marie Coady and her husband Bill, Marcia Pratt and her husband Lenny, Kathleen Roque and her husband Tom all of AZ, Keith Collins and his wife Dianne of FL, Frank Collins of RI and Claire White and her husband Steve of Hanover. Albert is predeceased by his parents Claire and Francis Collins. Al was born in Boston, grew up in South Boston and lived in Quincy before moving to Weymouth 19 years ago. He worked for Quincy Public Schools for 25 years. Buddy served his Country in the Navy during the Vietnam War and was a member of American Legion George R. Bean Post #79 in Weymouth. The Funeral Service will be from the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Dorothy E. Wells, age 88, passed away at the Pope Nursing Home on November 16, 2012. Dorothy was born in 1924, the daughter of Theresa and Hartley Wells. She was raised in Weymouth, attended Weymouth Schools and graduated from Bridgewater Teacher’s College and the University of Florida. Dorothy was a caring and supportive teacher at the Nevin, Adams, and Academy Ave. Schools. She later became Principal of the Seach and Academy Ave. Schools until her retirement. She and her late friend Dorothy Peterson were avid travelers throughout North America, Hawaii, the Caribbean and many European countries. They especially enjoyed cruises. Bertha L. (Stackpole) Giblin, age 90, passed away at the South Shore Hospital on Saturday November 17, 2012. Bertha was the loving wife for 71 years of Harry J. Giblin Sr. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Lane and her husband John of Weymouth, her 4 sons, Harry J. Giblin Jr. and his wife Arlene of Braintree, James Giblin and his wife Nancy of Halifax, Gerald Giblin and his wife Jean of Braintree and Edward Giblin and his wife Leslie of Weymouth and her sister Olive McCarthy of Attleboro. Bertha also leaves 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth Neal. Bertha was born and lived her whole life in Weymouth. CHRISTINA L. (POTTER) WARD, of Weymouth, formerly of Lowell and Scituate, passed away on Monday, Nov. 19th, 2012 at the Leahy Clinic in Burlington after a brief illness. She was 59. She worked as an acquiring editor at Little Brown Publishers in Boston before founding Christina Ward Literary Agency. She later became co-owner of The Ward & Barkin Agency, Inc. She had a special interest in working closely with writers and was a guest faculty member at several writers’ conferences throughout the United States. Beloved wife of George W. Ward of Weymouth and mother of Devin T. Ward of Milwaukee, WI and Gareth M. Ward of Malden. Daughter of Thomas V. and Betty Hamlin Potter of Weymouth. Sister of Stephen Potter of Georgia, Van Potter of Arizona and Rebecca Hulbert of Plymouth. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ward was an avid gardener and reader and had a wide and varied interest in literature and poetry. She was a loving wife, mother and daughter. A Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, Nov. 24th at 1 PM at the Old Ship Church, 90 Main St., Hingham. Visiting hours and flowers omitted by request. She was raised in North Weymouth, graduated from Weymouth High School and Forsythe Dental School. For 50 years she worked as a dental hygienist at the office of Dr. Philip Brackett in Weymouth Landing. Mrs. Soule was a former member of the Old Ship Church in Hingham and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and traveling. She leaves her son, Frederick L. Soule of Lenoir, NC; and daughter, Deborah S. Radcliffe of Weymouth. Sister of Lewis Loring, Jr. and the late Kenneth Loring. Grandmother of Matthew, David and Benjamin. Also survived by 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her mother Theresa Wilcox. Jaina was born in Boston and was a long time resident of S. Weymouth. She graduated from Woodward School for Girls in 1991and Wheaton College in 1995. Jaina was a Service Manager for the Chowder House in Weymouth for 9 years. She was an award winning Equestrian, a life long dancer and was also know for her many creative talents. She was born in Cohasset and was an Employee Relations Assistant for the National Labor Relations Board in Boston for 18 years, retiring in 1995. She attended Sacred Heart Church in Weymouth for over 66 years and enjoyed playing bridge and spending time with her family. She was the wife of the late George B. Perry and mother of George W. Perry and John B. Perry both of Plymouth, Robert J. Perry of Bakersfield, CA, Ellen J. Baker and Susan D. Perry both of Weymouth, Jane B. Sforza of Whitman, the late Beatrice Perry. She was the sister of Gladys Woodward of Florida, Joan MacLeod of Hanover and the late Leo Neagle, George Neagle, Richard Nagle, Charles Neagle and Dorothy (Neagle) Lantz. Loving grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Charlie was the husband of the late Dorothy (Coffin) Diggins and is survived by his 6 children, Elizabeth Melvin of Rockland, Thessaly Barnett of Hanover, Marianne Grant of Atkinson, NC, Colleen Wilbur of Taunton, Nancy Diggins of Sandwich and Charles Diggins of Middleboro. He also leaves his 2 sisters, Virginia O’Connell and Marjorie Fyreburg both of Worcester, 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Charles was born and grew up in Worcester and lived in Weymouth since 1954. He served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and was involved in the Battle of the Atlantic. Charlie volunteered at the South Shore Hospital for 30 years and Father Bill’s Place for 20 years. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the St. Francis Xavier Church, 234 Pleasant St., S. Glenn Richard Murray, age 53, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2012 following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the son of Richard and Jacqueline Murray of Weymouth, Glenn was born and grew up in Weymouth and graduated from Weymouth Vocational High School. Glenn was the loving husband of Kathleen (Kelley) Murray and the loving father of Keith and Neil Murray all of Weymouth. He was the devoted brother of his sister, Karen Murray Dean of San Jose, CA and his brother, Alan Murray and his wife Heather of Virginia Beach, VA. Glenn also leaves many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, his mother in law, brothers in law and sisters in law and many friends. Glenn owned and operated GM Networks, a computer service company. Glenn was a member of the Weymouth Sportsmen’s Club, the American Pool Players Association and the Weymouth Elks. He was an avid Patriots Fan and most of all loved riding his motorcycle. Although he was taken away from his family much too soon, they are all very grateful for the blessings that he brought into their lives. He was a loyal friend and could always be counted on. Also survived by his 4 Grandchildren Christopher, Alyssa, Austin, and Madison. Maynard was born in Richford Vermont and lived in Wallingford Ct. and for the last 22 years Weymouth. He was a very devoted family man and took care of his grandchildren. He was a member of United Lodge AM & FM of Weymouth, Brockton Chapter of order of Eastern Star and also was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Rockland where he did ministry work including working with prison inmates at Plymouth County House of Correction. John S. James “Poppy” Poplasky, 78, of Weymouth, originally from “Southie”, died peacefully, on the evening of December 25, 2012, after a short and spirited battle with esophageal cancer. Born on May 3, 1934 to the late Anna (Rapchinskas) and John F. Poplasky of South Boston, beloved husband of the late Phyllis Ann (O’Leary) Poplasky, and brother of the late George Francis Poplasky, John is survived by his 2 daughters and their husbands, Tracy Ann and David Brian McCarthy of Duxbury and Lisa Marie and John Eric Haapaoja of Weymouth. He is survived by 5 devoted grandchildren, David Jason McCarthy, Casey Marie McCarthy, Madison Rose McCarthy, all of Duxbury, Samantha Lynn (Haapaoja) Keenan and her husband John Keenan of Quincy, and Gregory James Haapaoja and his long-time girlfriend Jaime Rosenburg, of Weymouth. He is survived by his devoted sister Charlotte (Poplasky) Baker of Plymouth, the beloved wife of the late Edward Baker, nieces Whitney, Cori and Mary and their families, and his sister-in-law Helen (Cotter) Poplasky of Quincy, beloved wife of his brother, the late George F. Poplasky, nieces and nephew, Christina, Thomas and Mary and their families. He also leaves a brother-in-law, Harold Mahoney, beloved husband of the late Doris (O’Leary) Mahoney, his nieces and nephew, Kyleanne, Daniel, Lynn and Jill and their families. John is also survived by dear cousin-in-law Gail Poplaski, wife of his cousin, the late Joseph Poplaski, of North Reading, and their children, Michael, David and his wife Shannon, Amanda and Kevin. John was a graduate of Cathedral High School in South Boston and after being discharged from the Army, earned his bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University in Boston. He married Phyllis A. O’Leary on September 23, 1961, and after living a few years in Quincy, they moved to their home in Weymouth, where they raised 2 children and lived the rest of his life. John worked as a grocery buyer and salesman for several different companies until his retirement in 2006 but spent most of his time caring for his loving wife Phyllis until her death, at home, in 2007, from multiple sclerosis. John loved music of all kinds, cooking, old movies, and loved watching the Patriots (win or lose), the Red Sox and the Bruins. In recent years, he had begun to travel and loved seeing the world via cruise ship, with his family. A Funeral Service will be held at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Saturday December 29 at 11 A.M. Visiting Hours will be on Friday from 4 to 7 P.M.
